Accounting

Staff Accountant

Overview:  The York JCC is looking for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join the Finance Department.  This position under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer has primary responsibility for timely and accurate accounts payable processing for all invoices, credit cards and employee manual checks for the York JCC. Responsibilities include all aspects of accounts payable and additional accounts receivable, general ledger and administrative duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.

Minimum Education/Skill Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline or Associates degree with 3-5 years of experience in accounting role.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of GAAP
  • Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including the ability to operate computerized accounting and spreadsheet programs
  • High degree of accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Effective verbal, listening and written communication skills

General Responsibilities:

  • Record and post journal entries into the general ledger.
  • Conduct reconciliation of accounts on an as needed basis.
  • Perform all activities related to the accounts payable function including setting up new vendors, reviewing invoices, obtaining proper coding and approvals, and processing payments.
  • Handle vendor calls and inquiries, identify and communicate issues to ensure the timeliness of payments and avoid late fees or other potential problems.
  • Maintain the accounts payable filing system.
  • Provide support for accounts receivable functions including cash receipts/deposits, collections and revenue recognition.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries.
  • Assist with coordinating annual external auditors to ensure that the information is timely and accurate.
  • Participate in the development and improvement of accounting procedures and fiscal policies.
  • Perform other fiscal duties/projects as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.

Aquatics

Lifeguard

Varying Shifts between 9 AM – 9 PM

Position Overview:
Overview: This position, under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, has the
responsibilities of maintaining order in the Natatorium by preventing accidents through the
enforcement of policies, rules, and regulations governing the conduct of members and guests.
Additional responsibilities include monitoring the facilities for potential hazards or unsafe
conditions, providing first aid, and all other duties as necessary or required.
Work Schedule: Between 9AM – 9PM
Minimum Education/Experience

  • Must be a minimum of 15 years of age
  • American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification must be current and maintained
  • CPR for the professional rescuer, first aid, and AED certification must be current and maintained

General Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain a safe environment for all participants.
  • Communicate and enforce all regulations and pool rules in a personable and
    professional manner.
  • Assist swimmers in and out of the pool when needed.
  • Complete daily checklists and pool readings as instructed.
  • Take chemical readings on a one-hour cycle or as noted on the pool log. Bring any
    unusual readings or conditions to the attention of the director.
  • Help instructors with equipment and assist them during classes.
  • Maintain eye contact with all swimmers.
  • Be on deck at all times.
  • Report all needed repairs to supervisor.
  • Must attend staff training.
  • Attend member service training.

Performance Expectations

Swim Instructor

Position Overview:

Candidate for this position must be 16 years of age. Must have American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification.

Minimum Education/Experience

  • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age
  • Hold a current Water Safety Instructor certification through the American Red Cross

  • Must understand all four competitive strokes with turns

Center for Learn & Play

Toddler Music & Movement Instructor

Overview:  The York JCC’s Center for Learn and Play is looking for a Toddler Music & Movement Instructor to work with our Early Childhood Education classes. Candidate for this position needs to have knowledge of children’s development and movement appropriate for this age group, has experience working with children ages 2 – 5, and is highly experienced teaching children in a professional setting. Class focuses on circle time, singing songs, and age-appropriate music and movement activities. Must be certified in CPR and First Aid.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Taught children in a professional setting for 100 or more hours

Teaching Requirements:

Part-Time Evening Housekeeping

Overview: The Housekeeping I position is responsible for completing tasks, as assigned by the evening head supervisor, housekeeping supervisor and facilities director, to ensure the entire building is clean and ready to be reopened each morning.

Minimum Physical Requirements:

Membership

Membership Director

Overview: The Membership Director is responsible for new membership sales revenue, meeting/exceeding monthly and annual revenue and retention goals for membership, which will enable the JCC to forward their strategic mission plan. The Membership Director will develop, implement and lead new member onboarding, engagement, and retention strategies, which are consistent with the JCC’s strategic plan and objectives. The Membership Director will ensure delivery of high quality member experiences, improve member retention, reduce attrition and extend the average length of membership of our customers. The Membership Director will promote programs to members and the community at large to meet established budget and revenue goals.

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • Associates degree required, Bachelors preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 – 7 years of experience managing a customer service, marketing or membership department
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a supervisory role
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain positive working relationships at all levels
  • Ability to achieve results through the use of influence
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer service orientation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to be an independent contributor and team player
  • Ability to use computer programs such as Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to plan, forecast, develop and manage a budget

General Responsibilities:

  • Execute JCC marketing plans and sales initiatives to achieve/exceed personal and team’s monthly and annual sales revenue, member retention and contract utilization goals.
  • Recruit, hire, on-board, train, develop and supervises the Assistant Membership Director and Membership team.
  • Prospect for new members/clients.
  • Demonstrate proficient use of sales system by implementing consistent lead management, outbound calls and conversion ratio.
  • Conduct tours for potential new members using a consultative sales
  • Identify corporate wellness partner leads and achieve corporate wellness unit goals for the JCC.
  • Create and implement new membership onboarding initiatives for new members, member engagement, retention, policy compliance, customer service, and member communications.
  • Represent the JCC at community events to promote membership and
  • Create and promote a work environment that is inclusive of diverse
  • Provide direction, leadership and support to the JCC, with regard to their strategic retention, process evaluation, and improvement and performance management.
  • Coordinate with Marketing and Communications Manager on member communication activities, such as newsletter, calendar and program
  • Implement marketing and promotional activities including but not limited to member engagement events.
  • Prepare, manage, and implement the membership annual budget to ensure goals are achieved.
  • Other duties as needed or assigned.

Performance Expectations:

  • Understand/possess an openness to Jewish religion and traditions.
  • Serve as an integral member of the Leadership Team.
  • Attend all meetings and events that support the department’s main objectives and responsibilities.
  • Positively and actively promote the JCC’s mission, membership programs, events, and charitable purpose to JCC members and the general public.
  • Be familiar with the mission and vision statements and Core Values of the York JCC. Model the core values while working and communicating with members and staff.
  • Serve as a role model for members and staff demonstrating positive attitudes, appropriate attire and grooming, and an effective work ethic.
  • Protect confidentiality of records and information about staff, and use discretion when sharing any such information within legal confines.

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time, Weekday, daytime hours; occasional nights and weekends.
