Hidden Histories: York’s Jewish History
November 1 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Free!
Join us November 1 to highlight York’s Jewish history. We’ve partnered with the York History Center to bring you a great presentation by two gentlemen whose families have been Yorkers for several generations.
Gordon Freireich is a third-generation Yorker who has been accumulating information on York’s Jewish history for a number of year. He is a retired newspaper columnist who has led walking tours of York’s historic Jewish downtown area.
Lou Lavetan is a fourth-generation Yorker and a former member of the York JCC Board of Directors whose family roots go back to the late 1800s. Lou’s great grandfather (his namesake), Louis was one of the Founders of the JCC and served as its first President in 1929. Lou also co-chairs the 4 Chaplains Memorial breakfast to which Rabbi Alexander D. Goode was one of the famous 4.
