Supporting the JCC

Donate Now

Thousands of individuals in York County and surrounding areas rely on the JCC to provide them with wellness, cultural, educational, diversity, and recreational services each day. The JCC plays a vital role in our community and in our lives.
Many people do not realize that income from membership dues is not enough to support the excellent programming we enjoy, to enhance and maintain the building, and to serve the community, especially the families and individuals who need scholarship assistance. Your support helps us to continue to provide the programs, events and services essential to the community.

Annual Giving and Donor Societies

Members, non-members, corporations and individuals all support JCC programs and services through direct annual giving that funds early childhood care and education, Jewish culture, diversity education, and wellness programs.
The York JCC depends on the generous support of our members and the community to offer important services to everyone. After more than a century of making a difference, the York JCC continues to enhance the quality of life in York County.

Mensch Society

Major donors who contribute $2,500 or more in annual gifts (cumulative) will be recognized as members of the Mensch Society as either Tzedakah ($5,000+) or Mitzvah ($2,500-$4,999) Partners.
Mensch is a Yiddish word that means “person of integrity.”  Tzedakah is a Hebrew word commonly translated as charity, though it is based on the Hebrew word (tzedek) meaning righteousness, fairness or justice.  Mitzvah literally means “commandment.” As such, the term mitzvah has also come to express an act of human kindness.

Chai Society

Donors contributing a total of $118 or more in annual gifts (cumulative) will be recognized as members of the Chai Society as Innovators ($1,000 to $2,499), Believers ($500 to $999) or Dreamers ($118 to $499).  Patron members are also members of the Chai Society.

Chai is a Hebrew word and symbol that means “life.” The letters of chai add up to 18, and for this reason 18 and increments of 18 are symbols of life.

L’Dor V’Dor Society

L’Dor V’Dor (From Generation to Generation) members have supported the JCC by making a planned gift - leaving a legacy. Legacy giving can provide immediate benefits and will give you the satisfaction of knowing that your personal philanthropic goals will be met, and that you are helping to ensure that the JCC will maintain its place in our community for years and years.

Matching Gifts

Many businesses will match their employees' charitable contributions through special matching gifts programs administering through their human resource departments. With a Corporate Matching Gift, you can double and sometimes triple, the size of your contribution.

EITC

Through the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program, your business is able to receive a tax credit for 100% of your contribution (up to $10,000), and it can stay right here in the York community. If your business has been awarded tax credits through the Educational Improvement Tax Credit program, the JCC's Pre-K program can now benefit directly from your contribution. Contributions to the York JCC through EITC will provide scholarship assistance for the education of students in need. Information regarding the EITC program can be found at www.newpa.org

Policies

The JCC has a fund development program to help donors achieve their charitable aspirations at the JCC.  Due to the ever-increasing complexity of philanthropic plans and concepts, these policies have been developed to establish standards by which all gifts to the JCC will be evaluated, as well as a formal process for carrying out such evaluations.

These policies and guidelines govern the acceptance and recognition of gifts by the JCC and provide guidance to prospective donors and their advisors when making gifts to the JCC. The provisions of these policies shall apply to all gifts received by the JCC for any of its programs or services.
