Youth tennis classes, camps and clinics



Youth tennis classes, camps, clinics at the JCC provide high quality instruction at an affordable cost. A mini tennis net is placed in a gymnasium, participants use youth size rackets and low pressure balls to enhance learning, Participants receive take home activities to enhance what they are learning in class. Classes have a maximum number of students for instructor to provide individualized attention on stroke development and learning.

Preschool Tennis Class (Ages 3-5)
Class emphasis is placed on agility, movement, hand and eye coordination, balance, and stroke development. Participants will have fun learning different tennis skills, while playing fun games and activities. Instructor uses fun, colorful teaching tools to keep children engaged during class. Participants are taught individual skills, partner play and how to work with others.




Tiny Tennis Class (Ages 4-5)
Class emphasis is placed on agility, movement, hand and eye coordination, balance, and stroke development. Participants will have fun learning different tennis skills, while playing fun games and activities. Instructor uses fun, teaching tools to keep children engaged during class. Participants are taught individual skills, partner play and how to work with others.




Youth Tennis Class (Ages 6-9)
Participants will learn the proper way to hit forehands and backhands, while learning how to properly move on the court. Class will be taught with fun equipment and props to assist the development of balance, agility and coordination. Emphasis is placed on long term developmental growth. Participants are taught individual skills, partner play and how to work with others.




Youth Tennis Camp (Ages 5-8 and Ages: 9-12)
Learn to hit the tennis ball with proper form from the service line with emphasis on ground strokes. Campers will enjoy playing fun games to enhance their skills. Camp focuses on skill development, sportsmanship, self-esteem, and building the love of the game.






Private and Semi Private Tennis Lesson
Location: Gymnasium using a mini net
Ages 4-9    Rates: 30 min...$25    45min (semi-private)...$35

Lessons are held in the JCC gymnasium and provide a great outlet for the colder months. Players receive personalized lessons to develop strokes, while enhancing coordination, endurance, balance, speed, and agility. Contact Holly Metzger for more information or to set up lessons.

Tennis Birthday Parties
Ages 4-9    Max: 12

Tennis parties are a great way to celebrate your birthday. Party includes tennis equipment, gymnasium and a party room for your guests. Instructor personalizes party with age appropriate activities and games for guests. Birthday boy or girl will receive a tennis gift after the party. Contact Holly Metzger for pricing.

Personalized Tennis and Athletic Developmental Training
Ages 10-13    Rates: 30 min...$25

Tennis strength and conditioning is a huge benefit to young developing players. Training sessions focus on injury prevention, basic sports nutrition, functional strength movement, and all aspects of court conditioning. Trainings are designed for players to become active participants in their learning and growth. Players will learn a variety of movement activities on and off the tennis court; injury prevention exercises; learn how to fuel the body for matches and practices; gain the experience of training with a variety of equipment; and increase awareness of the importance of training. Training programs are personalized for each individual player.

Tennis Lessons at YOUR Location

Instructor provides all the equipment, a mini tennis net, youth size rackets, teaching tools and low pressure balls to enhance learning, Participants receive take home activities to enhance what they are learning in class. Instructor will provide a free 30-demo session to watch or participate in class. Classes may be scheduled in the morning, afternoon or in the evening as best fits both the instructor's and the center's schedule. Classes have a maximum number of students for instructor to provide individualized attention on stroke development and learning.

There are many options for your location and your families. Having class once a week or twice a week, your choice on session duration from 4-8 weeks and how many times you would like to run class throughout the year.

Classes are taught by certified tennis professional, Holly Metzger, M.Ed.

Holly graduated from Lycoming College in 2002, where she played varsity tennis and basketball. She holds a Master's Degree in Teacher Leadership and Education. Holly completed her Tennis Professional Certification through the United States National Tennis Academy and has been coaching and instructing all ages and levels of tennis since 2004. She holds certifications in Personal Training, Group Fitness Instruction, Strength & Conditioning, Sports Nutrition Consulting, TRX, Cycling and Boot Camp Instruction, and is trained in SPARK curriculum.

Holly is a strong believer in physical development and lifetime movement. She loves to teach all aspects of tennis, stroke development,footwork, conditioning, game strategies and mental toughness. She believes all lessons and classes should be fun and enjoyable, and at the same time improve long-term development and a healthy life style for every player she teaches.
