On Friday, December 17, the pool was closed, the deck was cleared, and renovations began. For the first time in over 30 years, the Aquatics Center is receiving much-needed upgrades and maintenance.
Work began instantly, beginning with the most obvious step: draining the pool and whirlpool.
In just one week, much had changed in the Aquatics Center. In the filter room, chemical feeders and tubing were removed. The construction crew removed the blue pool deck and jack hammered the plaster of the pool itself. Additionally, the whirlpool plaster removal began. And that was only week one!
