EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP

York JCC CEO

Position Overview:

The York Jewish Community Center’s CEO will be a visionary leader possessing excellent strategic and managerial skills and strong intellect to serve as a passionate advocate of the York JCC’s mission. The CEO will work with the Board of Directors and staff to cultivate strong ties between the JCC, its members, donors and key stakeholders. This person will be results oriented and will provide leadership in all aspects of the JCC’s operation, including responsibility for the day-to-day management of the JCC. Additionally, the CEO will recognize the strengths and skills of staff and volunteers, empowering them to carry out programs in keeping with the vision, policies and goals established by the JCC’s Board of Directors. The CEO must be able to perform the following essential functions of the position:

Financial Resource Development

  • Fund Raising experience at leadership level
  • Success with developing and maintaining relationships with donors and/or foundations
  • Experience with funding long-term capital needs and endowments

Representing the JCC

  • Experience with cultivating positive relationships with Jewish communal institutions to promote broader community collaboration

Financial Management

  • Ability to work effectively with CFO, finance committee, and the Board

CHILD CARE DEPARTMENT

Lead Teacher

Full-Time: 40 Hours/Week at Main Branch

Position Overview:

The Early Childhood Head Teacher will provide leadership for the classroom team to maintain the quality of the JCC’s Early Childhood Program, provide excellent care and education for children and build strong collaborations with families.

Location: Gan Tamar Campus: 2000 Hollywood Drive, York, PA 17403

General Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Associate Director / Director in the supervision of staff members on your teaching team.
  • Arrange regular meetings for your teaching team.
  • Provide a nurturing environment in which all children feel welcomed and secure.
  • Meet NAEYC and Keystone STARS* standards.
  • Adhere to the standards outlined in the JCC Early Childhood Program Handbook for:
  • Following DHS regulations
  • Communicating with families
  • Care of facility and equipment
  • Record keeping
  • Curriculum
  • Health and safety procedures
  • Teamwork, including regular attendance of staff meetings
  • Other duties as needed or assigned.

Requirements:

  • B.A. degree in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, special education, psychology, or the human services field
  • Three to four years of teaching experience

Assistant Teacher

Full-Time: 40 Hours/Week at Main Branch and Jacobus Branch

Position Overview:

The principle duties of the Assistant Teacher include collaborating with the Head Teacher to develop weekly curricular plans; cooperating with home base team to implement and evaluate classroom activities; overseeing the physical well-being of the children; maintenance of the classroom, classroom materials and equipment; and contributing to the overall operation of the Early Childhood Program.

School-Age Child Care: Assistant Classroom Leader

Part-Time: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM; 29 Hours per Week; Days and Time are Flexible

Locations: York JCC and DAIS

Position Overview:

Provide care and guidance for children ages 6 to 12. Work collaboratively with the childcare team to provide a safe, nurturing environment in which all children feel welcomed and secure.

Requirements:

30+ College credits in early childhood education or related field or 15 College credits in early childhood education or related field plus 1250 hour of work experience with children or 2500 hours of work experience.

Preschool Assistant Teacher/Teacher Aide

Part-Time: 8:30 – 11:30 AM or 8:30 AM – 2:00 PM

Position Overview:

Seeking individuals with an educational background in early childhood education to work with children 4 to 5 years old. Must have good communication skills, be self-motivated, energetic, and possess a commitment to child and family development; be able to plan activities, actively supervise children and actively engage children in play.

AQUATICS DEPARTMENT

Life Guard

Part-Time: Hours vary

Position Overview:

This position, under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, has the responsibility of maintaining order in the Natatorium by preventing accidents through the enforcement of policies, rules, and regulations governing the conduct of members and guests. Additional responsibilities include monitoring the facilities for potential hazards or unsafe conditions, providing first aid, and all other duties as necessary or required.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 15 years of age

  • American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification must be current and maintained

  • CPR for the professional rescuer, first aid and AED certification must be current and maintained
