ADMINISTRATION

Human Resource Manager

Full-Time: 40 hours/week

Position Overview:
The Human Resource Manager will lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department, including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.

Minimum Education/Experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate when appropriate
  • High levels of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Proficient in, or able to learn, the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required
  • A minimum of three years of human resource management experience preferred
  • SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or PHR/SPHR highly desired

POSITION REQUIREMENT

General Responsibilities

  • Partner with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s human resource and talent strategy, specifically relating to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning
  • Provide support and guidance to HR administrative assistant, management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in sensitive circumstances, such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations
  • Manage the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings
  • Analyze trends in compensation and benefits; research/propose competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure that the organization attracts and retains top talent
  • Create learning and development initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees
  • Oversee employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
  • Perform other duties as assigned

CHILD CARE DEPARTMENT

Lead Teacher

Full-Time: 40 Hours/Week at Main Branch

Position Overview:

The Early Childhood Head Teacher will provide leadership for the classroom team to maintain the quality of the JCC’s Early Childhood Program, provide excellent care and education for children and build strong collaborations with families.

Location: Gan Tamar Campus: 2000 Hollywood Drive, York, PA 17403

General Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Associate Director / Director in the supervision of staff members on your teaching team.
  • Arrange regular meetings for your teaching team.
  • Provide a nurturing environment in which all children feel welcomed and secure.
  • Meet NAEYC and Keystone STARS* standards.
  • Adhere to the standards outlined in the JCC Early Childhood Program Handbook for:
  • Following DHS regulations
  • Communicating with families
  • Care of facility and equipment
  • Record keeping
  • Curriculum
  • Health and safety procedures
  • Teamwork, including regular attendance of staff meetings
  • Other duties as needed or assigned.

Requirements:

  • B.A. degree in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, special education, psychology, or the human services field
  • Three to four years of teaching experience
  • Vision
  • Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of child caregiving
  • PA certified in Early Childhood Education

Assistant Teacher

Full-Time: 40 Hours/Week at Main Branch and at Jacobus Branch
Part-Time: 20-25 Hours/Week at Jacobus Branch and at Main Branch

Position Overview:

The principle duties of the Assistant Teacher include collaborating with the Head Teacher to develop weekly curricular plans; cooperating with home base team to implement and evaluate classroom activities; overseeing the physical well-being of the children; maintenance of the classroom, classroom materials and equipment; and contributing to the overall operation of the Early Childhood Program.

School-Age Child Care: Assistant Classroom Leader

Part-Time: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM; 29 Hours per Week; Days and Time are Flexible

Locations: York JCC and DAIS

Position Overview:

Provide care and guidance for children ages 6 to 12. Work collaboratively with the childcare team to provide a safe, nurturing environment in which all children feel welcomed and secure.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma, plus 15 credits in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Human Resources, or an equivalent field and one year experience working with children; or
  • High school equivalent plus 30 credits in the above fields; or
  • High School equivalent plus two years of experience working with young children.

Babysitting Room Caregiver

Part-Time: 8 Hours per Week; Saturday, 7:45 AM – 12:00 PM and Sunday, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Position Overview:

We are looking for a person who:

  • Has excellent customer service skills
  • Is punctual
  • Is able to provide care, guidance and direction for children from 2 months – 11 years of age
  • Enjoys interacting with children such as reading, games play, and other socialization methods
  • Is able to feed, change diapers
  • Has good vision
  • Can lift and carry a child up to 50 pounds
  • Performs upkeep, cleaning toys, and equipment in the room

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or higher
  • At least 18 years old
  • CPR & First Aid certified

AQUATICS DEPARTMENT

Lifeguards

Part-Time: Varying shifts available

Position Overview:

This position, under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, has the responsibility of maintaining order in the Natatorium by preventing accidents through the enforcement of policies, rules, and regulations governing the conduct of members and guests. Additional responsibilities include monitoring the facilities for potential hazards or unsafe conditions, providing first aid, and all other duties as necessary or required.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 15 years of age

  • American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification must be current and maintained

  • CPR for the professional rescuer, first aid and AED certification must be current and maintained

Swim Lesson Instructors (WSI)

Part-Time: Varying shifts available

Position Overview:

Teach the different levels according to the AMR, provide a safe and positive learning environment for students. Give corrective feedback on skills for each level of swimming.

Requirements:

  • Water Safety Instructor certification is preferred thru the American Red Cross but not mandatory

Water Fitness Instructor

Position Overview:

Monitoring, educate patrons on fitness and safety, and maintain a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for class participants

SUMMER CAMP

Summer Camp Counselor

Position Overview:

Looking for a great summer job? J Camps, located at the York JCC, is looking for energetic, dedicated staff members who are interested in working in a fun, creative camp environment this summer.  Our Summer Camp counselors receive training which includes child development workshops, skill sharing, and certification in Basic Water Safety and CPR. We hire on a rolling basis and recommend you complete your application no later than April 12, 2021.  Our summer season is June 1st – August 13, 2021.
An added bonus is a Free JCC membership for the summer!

  • High school diploma/GED
  • At least 18 years of age
