CHILD CARE DEPARTMENT

Pre-K Counts/Lead Teacher

Full-Time: 40 Hours/Week at York Branch

Position Overview:

The Early Childhood Head Teacher will provide leadership for the classroom team to maintain the quality of the JCC’s Early Childhood Program, provide excellent care and education for children and build strong collaborations with families.

General Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Associate Director / Director in the supervision of staff members on your teaching team.
  • Arrange regular meetings for your teaching team.
  • Provide a nurturing environment in which all children feel welcomed and secure.
  • Meet NAEYC and Keystone STARS* standards.
  • Adhere to the standards outlined in the JCC Early Childhood Program Handbook for:
  • Following DHS regulations
  • Communicating with families
  • Care of facility and equipment
  • Record keeping
  • Curriculum
  • Health and safety procedures
  • Teamwork, including regular attendance of staff meetings
  • Other duties as needed or assigned.

Requirements:

  • B.A. degree in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, special education, psychology, or the human services field
  • Three to four years of teaching experience
  • Vision
  • Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of child caregiving
  • PA certified in Early Childhood Education

Lead Teacher

Full-Time: 40 Hours/Week at Jacobus Branch

Position Overview:

Assistant Teacher

Full-Time: 40 Hours/Week at Jacobus Branch

Position Overview:

The principle duties of the Assistant Teacher include collaborating with the Head Teacher to develop weekly curricular plans; cooperating with home base team to implement and evaluate classroom activities; overseeing the physical well-being of the children; maintenance of the classroom, classroom materials and equipment; and contributing to the overall operation of the Early Childhood Program.

  • Collaborate with the Head Teacher to provide a nurturing environment in which all children feel welcomed and secure.
  • Meet NAEYC and Keystone STARS* standards.
  • Adhere to the standards outlined in the JCC Early Childhood Program Handbook for:
    • Following DHS regulations

  • Attend regular meetings for your teaching team, the Early Childhood Program, and the JCC.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma, plus 15 credits in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Human Resources, or an equivalent field and one year experience working with children; or
  • High school equivalent plus 30 credits in the above fields; or
  • High School equivalent plus two years of experience working with young children.

Early Childhood Assistant Teacher

Part-Time: 20-25 hours/week in afternoons.

Position Overview: Seeking individuals with an educational background in early childhood education to work with children 3 to 5 years old. Must have good communication skills, be self-motivated, energetic, and possess a commitment to child and family development; be able to plan activities, actively supervise children and actively engage children in play.

Requirements: Must have an Associates Degree or higher with at least 3 years’ experience working with young children. Teaching in other high-quality ECE settings is valued. Competitive wages based on qualifications and experience.

School-Age Child Care: Assistant Classroom Leader (Positions available at 2 locations)

Part-Time: Weekdays through the school year between 6 to 8:30 AM and/or afternoons 3-6 PM. Days and times are somewhat flexible.

  • Location #2 YARCS (York Academy Regional Charter School) [1 position]

Position Overview: Provide care and guidance for children ages 6 to 12. Work collaboratively with the childcare team to provide a safe, nurturing environment in which all children feel welcomed and secure.

Requirements: 30+ College credits in early childhood education or related field or 15 College credits in early childhood education or related field plus 1250 hour of work experience with children. or 2500 hours of work experience.

MEMBERSHIP DEPARTMENT

Front Desk Staff

Part-Time: 15 hours a week, including weekends

Position Overview: Provide front line customer service to our members, guests, and fellow staff.  Responsibilities include multitasking by doing accurate computer entry for all transactions; balancing of monies received; handling of inquiries and requests; conducting tours; closing sales; answering the phones; and providing front line security by ensuring all scans are valid.

FITNESS/YOUTH FITNESS DEPARTMENT

Fitness Desk Staff

Part-Time: 10 hours/week, including weekends

Position Overview: Fitness Center Desk Staff is responsible for customer experience, safety, and cleanliness of the Fitness Center.

  • Assisting as needed for guidance using Fitness equipment
  • Provide members and clients/guests with the highest level of professionalism and dedication through consistent development of relationships and programming guidance
  • To be dedicated to customer service, developing a personal / team rapport with members and motivate them to participate in the York JCC’s programs

The Fitness Center Desk Staff reports to the Fitness Director / Fitness Center Manager.

Personal Trainer: Career Professional

Birthday Party Instructor: Part-Time

Part-time: Weekends and other times available.

Position Overview: Seeking a dedicated, energetic and creative individual who has experience instructing birthday parties or teaching a variety of youth sports and fitness classes.  Must be able to work well with children and be knowledgeable in the field of youth fitness, sports, and movement to design, supervise and teach themed birthday parties.

Qualifications: Must have a high school degree or equivalency with a minimum of three years’ work experience teaching birthday parties, youth sports or fitness classes in a professional setting.

Group Fitness Instructors

AQUATICS DEPARTMENT

Lifeguard

Part-Time: Mornings, Evenings, and Weekends

Overview: This position, under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, is responsible for preventing accidents in and around the pool by enforcing the York JCC policies and rules with the members and guests. Additional responsibilities include monitoring the facilities for potential hazards or unsafe conditions, providing first aid, and all other duties as necessary or required.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 15 years of age
  • American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification must be current and maintained
  • CPR for the professional rescuer, first aid, and AED certification must be current and maintained
  • Must be in good physical condition.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to swim a minimum of 300 yards continuously at all times.
  • Must be able to perform any rescue skill required by certifying organization.
