Accounting

Staff Accountant

Overview:  The York JCC is looking for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join the Finance Department.  This position under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer has primary responsibility for timely and accurate accounts payable processing for all invoices, credit cards and employee manual checks for the York JCC. Responsibilities include all aspects of accounts payable and additional accounts receivable, general ledger and administrative duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.

 

Minimum Education/Skill Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline or Associates degree with 3-5 years of experience in accounting role.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of GAAP
  • Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including the ability to operate computerized accounting and spreadsheet programs

General Responsibilities:

  • Perform all activities related to the accounts payable function including setting up new vendors, reviewing invoices, obtaining proper coding and approvals, and processing payments.
  • Handle vendor calls and inquiries, identify and communicate issues to ensure the timeliness of payments and avoid late fees or other potential problems.
  • Maintain the accounts payable filing system.
  • Provide support for accounts receivable functions including cash receipts/deposits, collections and revenue recognition.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries.
  • Assist with coordinating annual external auditors to ensure that the information is timely and accurate.
  • Participate in the development and improvement of accounting procedures and fiscal policies.
  • Perform other fiscal duties/projects as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.

Human Resource Manager

Overview

The Human Resource Manager will lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department, including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.

Marketing Specialist/Graphic Designer

Overview

The Marketing Specialist will work under the supervision of the Marketing Manager to create content for various print, digital and web platforms. Responsibilities include assisting in the planning, creation, implementation, and monitoring of ROI for all integrated marketing and advertising campaigns.

Minimum Educational/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic/web design, advertising, marketing, or a related field preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in graphic design and/or digital media
  • Solid knowledge of design and editing programs including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Video Editing Programs

Aquatics

Lifeguard

Varying Shifts between 9 AM – 9 PM

 

Position Overview:
Overview: This position, under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, has the
responsibilities of maintaining order in the Natatorium by preventing accidents through the
enforcement of policies, rules, and regulations governing the conduct of members and guests.
Additional responsibilities include monitoring the facilities for potential hazards or unsafe
conditions, providing first aid, and all other duties as necessary or required.
Work Schedule: Between 9AM – 9PM
Minimum Education/Experience

  • Must be a minimum of 15 years of age
  • American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification must be current and maintained
  • CPR for the professional rescuer, first aid, and AED certification must be current and maintained

General Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain a safe environment for all participants.
  • Communicate and enforce all regulations and pool rules in a personable and
    professional manner.
  • Assist swimmers in and out of the pool when needed.
  • Complete daily checklists and pool readings as instructed.
  • Take chemical readings on a one-hour cycle or as noted on the pool log. Bring any
    unusual readings or conditions to the attention of the director.
  • Help instructors with equipment and assist them during classes.
  • Maintain eye contact with all swimmers.
  • Be on deck at all times.
  • Report all needed repairs to supervisor.
  • Must attend staff training.
  • Attend member service training.

Position Overview:

Candidate for this position must be 16 years of age. Must have American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification.

  • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age
  • Hold a current Water Safety Instructor certification through the American Red Cross

Summer Camp Counselor

Overview: Get ready for an action-packed summer filled with hands-on learning, trips and silly fun! Provide care and guidance for campers ages 5-14. ​Give campers a unique and fun summer in a safe and nurturing environment. The Summer Camp Counselor will work cooperatively with the home base teaching team to maintain the quality of the JCC School Age Program, providing excellent care and education for children, and building strong partnerships with families.

J Club | School-Age Child Care: Assistant Classroom Leader

Part-Time: AM/PM Shifts – 6:30 – 8:45 AM and 3:00 – 5:30 PM

Babysitting Room Caregiver

Part-Time: Monday through Thursday, 4 – 7 PM

Position Overview:

The Babysitting Room is open 8:00 AM – 1:30 PM. Monday through Friday and 4 – 7 PM Monday through Thursday. Caregivers are responsible for supervising children from 2 months – 11 years old. Children may use the room for up to two hours a day while parents are in the building.

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • Minimum of 18years old
  • Two years experience caring for children aged 2 months – 11 years old

General Responsibilities:

  • Change diapers in accordance with JCC diaper changing policy
  • Distribute parent-provided lunches and snacks, including the spoon/bottle-feeding of younger children
  • Personally interact with children through reading, arts and crafts, game play, and other socialization
  • Ensure maintenance of daily attendance records
  • Perform upkeep and cleaning of room and equipment periodically
  • Greet parents and children warmly and by name as often as possible
  • Any other tasks as assigned

Performance Expectations:

  • Provide positive guidance in redirecting children; minimum discipline designed to separate a child from others when behavior
    interferes with positive interaction
  • The room and equipment are to be left clean at the end of each shift and games and equipment disinfected on a regular basis
  • Uphold policies and rules governing the Youth Lounge as well as the Jewish Community Center and keep all members informed as to the status of rules and their implications
  • Be available as a substitute to cover other providers’ shifts if necessary and when able
  • Make arrangements to cover your own absences at least 24 hours in advance or as soon as possible on sick days; if a replacement cannot be found, notify supervisor as soon as possible
  • Attend staff meetings as directed
  • Work as a team member to maintain a high quality of care giving; assist in the Babysitting Room at times when the Youth Lounge is not in use

FT/PT Day & Evening Housekeeping

Overview:  The Housekeeping I position is responsible for completing tasks, as assigned by the housekeeping supervisor, the evening head supervisor, and the facilities director, to ensure the entire building is clean and ready to be reopened each morning, as well as to set-up and tear down for event rentals.

Minimum Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift 40 pounds
  • Needs to be standing for prolonged periods of time
  • Familiar with control and accounting of supplies

Responsibilities:

  • Care and maintenance of cleaning equipment; i.e. vacuum cleaners and other cleaning machines
  • Ensure that all rentals are set up in a timely manner to allow ample time for renters
  • Cleaning and upkeep of the JCC, including locker rooms and classrooms
  • Steam cleaning and hard floor care
  • Securing all doors and windows
  • Restocking all paper products, soaps, and housekeeping supplies throughout the building

Position Overview:

Jewish Life Manager

Overview:  The JCC’s Manager of Jewish Life will lead a foundational and fundamental department of the JCC. The Manager will provide vision, direction, supervision, and support for the day-to-day operations of the Department. Ultimately, the manager is responsible for cultivating and supporting vibrant Jewish life at the JCC.

  • 5 years of experience in Judaic program development and implementation, and program presentation. Proven successful management experience in a JCC, non-profit, or similar agency
  • BA/BS degree required. Advanced degree preferred in Jewish communal services, nonprofit management, public administration or related field.

General Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a resource, collaborator and programmer for Jewish cultural and religious programming
  • Provide guidance and direction to the JCC’s Jewish Life-Family Services Committee and Board of Directors regarding Jewish customs, practices, learning, and celebration
  • Provide vision and direction to Jewish Life & Family Services Department, identifying key needs and strategic opportunities aligning with the JCC’s mission and vision
  • Maintain and deliver department’s high-quality, professional programs and services through ongoing assessments and evaluations
  • Develop/find new innovative culture and educational programming based on the Hebrew calendar
  • Accountable for creating/analyzing and monitoring annual budget regularly to ensure the Department meets projections; collaborate with the JCC’s Advancement Department
  • Foster partnerships and collaborations with community Jewish and secular arts and culture organizations, and service providers to enhance the scope and reach of programs and services
  • Support and expand the volunteer program of the JCC with the assistance of the HR department
  • Other duties as assigned

Community Engagement Team Member

Overview:
You are a key person in providing front-line customer service to our members and potential members, upholding the York JCC Mission and Core Values, and generating membership sales.

Hours

Opening shifts with weekend availability

Weekday opening time is 4:30AM-10AM.

Weekend opening time is 730am-12pm

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • Customer Service/Sales Experience
  • High School Diploma
  • Basic Math Skills
  • Computer Experience

General Responsibilities: 

  • Answering phones, transferring calls, and taking and disseminating messages
  • Greeting members and checking cards to verify member status. As much as possible, personal contact should be made with each visitor in a manner that is personal, friendly and courteous. No reading or personal business should ever take place when a visitor is in the Front Desk area.
  • Processing member applications and registrations (for camp, preschool, childcare, programs, etc.)
  • Quick and accurate data entry of all registrations and receipts
  • Accurately maintaining records and balancing of all monies received and disbursed
  • Conducting tours with prospective members, which includes a sales/service component to turn visitors into members
  • Supporting staff by answering questions, making photocopies, running rosters, “selling” programs to members, and additional projects as needed
  • Supporting staff by cross-selling programs, answering questions, and running rosters
  • Recommending system improvements where perceived
  • When possible, substituting for other Service Associates and working extra hours at peak times as needed
  • Helping to train incoming Service Associates as needed
  • Keeping current on all aspects of the JCC
  • Attending departmental meetings
  • Responding to and following up on all front desk inquiries
  • Being a liaison between membership and staff
