Administrative

Development Manager

Overview:  The Development Manager will be responsible for the management and implementation of fundraising efforts to meet the financial goals for the York Jewish Community Center, including budgeting, forecasting and report creation, cultivation and stewardship of donors, sponsor recognition and communication strategies, coordination of volunteers, and donor data entry.

General Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the creation and implementation of the JCC Development Plan that incorporates a range of strategies including annual appeals, major donors, corporate and individual appeals, fundraising and special events.
  • Cultivate, manage, steward, and track relationships with all donors and prospects including individuals and corporations.
  • Engage and secure stories/testimonials from donors and members for impact-related communication including website, social media, and direct communications.
  • Leverage the CAO and CEO time in cultivating high-potential donors and prospects
  • Represents and promotes the York JCC in the local community, developing positive working relationships with organizations and businesses.
  • Plan, develop, and execute event logistics including relationships with vendors, speakers, guests, volunteers, and sponsors; oversee and coordinate event-planning committees.
  • Work with JCC Advancement team to establish and execute cross-functional strategies to build overall stakeholder relationships.
  • Collaborate with Department Directors to develop, expand, and refine case for support, supporting materials, and strategy.
  • Accurately prepare and implement all donor records, correspondence, sponsor proposals/reports, mailings, and acknowledgments required to support ongoing fundraising activities.
  • Provide staff support to the Board’s Fund Development Committee and lead efforts to involve, educate, and motivate Board members in the JCC’s fundraising efforts.
  • Generate and provide detailed progress reports to the CAO/CEO regularly.
  • Manage in a fiscally sound manner and work to meet/exceed development department budget.
  • Serve as a “clearinghouse” for all potential JCC-driven solicitations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate diplomatically and effectively with volunteers, donors, and staff.

Massage Therapist

Overview: Candidate for this position must be a licensed massage therapist from an accredited school of massage. Person must be dedicated to the health and safety of each client so that they may receive all the benefits of massage.

Minimum Educational/Experience:

  • Massage Therapy License

General Responsibilities:

  • Maintain health history forms
  • Develop and propose client treatment plans specific to client and describe type of massage to be used.
  • Maintain accurate treatment and medical records for each client.
  • Maintain daily appointments

  • Create a safe and pleasant environment for each client

Summer Camp Counselor

Overview: Get ready for an action-packed summer filled with hands-on learning, trips and silly
fun! York JCC Summer Camp Counselors are responsible for providing care and guidance for campers ages 5 – 14. Counselors will give campers a unique and fun summer in a safe and nurturing environment. The Summer Camp Counselor will work cooperatively with the home base teaching team to maintain the quality of the JCC School Age Program, providing excellent care and education for children, and building strong partnerships with families.

Babysitting Room Caregiver

Overview:  The Babysitting Caregiver’s primary responsibility is to create a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children and youth within our facility. This individual will be entrusted with the well-being and supervision of children ranging from infants to teenagers, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met. This role requires a compassionate and patient individual who is capable of promoting a positive and enriching atmosphere for children under your care.

General Responsibilities:

  • Change diapers in accordance with JCC diaper changing policy.
  • Distribute parent-provided lunches and snacks, including the spoon/bottle-feeding of younger children.
  • Interact with children through reading, game play, coloring, etc.
  • Encourage good behavior through positive reinforcement and effective communication
  • Maintain daily and accurate records of attendance, incidents, and any notable observations.
  • Perform daily room/equipment upkeep and cleaning.
  • Greet parents and children warmly and by name (when possible).
  • Any other tasks as assigned.

Performance Expectations:

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all children under your care.
  • Create an inclusive environment where each child feels valued and supported.
  • Arrive on time for scheduled shifts and activities
  • Maintain clear and open communication with parents, guardians, and fellow staff members.
  • Provide positive guidance in redirecting children; minimal discipline designed to separate a child from others when his behavior interferes with the positive play.
  • The room and equipment is to be clean at the end of each shift, and toys are to be disinfected on a regular basis using disinfectant or hot water and soap in sink.
  • Uphold all policies and rules governing the Babysitting Room as well as the Jewish Community Center and keep all members informed as to the status of these rules and their implications.
  • Be available as a substitute to cover other providers’ shifts if necessary and when able.
  • Arrange to cover your own absences at least 24 hours in advance or as soon as possible on sick days. If you cannot find a replacement, call your supervisor as soon as possible.
  • Work as a team member to maintain a high quality of care giving.
  • Provide excellent customer service to JCC members, guests, and staff by adhering to the JCC Core Values.

Kitchen Assistant

Work Schedule: Part-time hours, 7 AM – 2:30 PM, Monday – Friday

Overview: The Kitchen Assistant at York JCC plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operations of the kitchen and the timely delivery of nutritious meals to children at both the Main Campus and Gan Rimon Campus. The candidate will be responsible for delivering food to children during lunch hours, maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen area, managing dishwashing duties, and providing support with additional tasks as needed.

General Responsibilities:

  • Lunch and snack preparing and portioning as well as delivering to child care classrooms at the main campus and to classrooms at Gan Rimon Campus
  • Daily cleaning of work space
  • Checking Freezers/Refrigerators temperatures in the am and pm
  • Ensuring accurate and timely delivery of meals to children while adhering to established safety and hygiene protocols
  • Operating dishwashing equipment to clean dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
  • Ensuring proper handling and storage of clean dishes and utensils.
  • Assisting in retrieval of food and dish carts
  • Assistance to the dishwasher in retrieval of food and dish carts
  • Supporting inventory management by restocking supplies and monitoring stock levels.
  • Assisting with receiving and storing food deliveries.
  • Following instructions from kitchen supervisors and managers to complete assigned tasks efficiently and accurately.

FT Assistant Housekeeping Supervisor

Overview: The Assistant Housekeeping Supervisor ensures the building spaces (classrooms, restrooms, locker rooms, gym, auditorium, offices, fitness areas, hallways, etc..) clean and ready for use, complete set-up/tear-down of rentals, covers any nights the Supervisor is not present as well as any dayshift needs. Provides quality customer service throughout the shift.

  • Open/close facility at designated times-secure building
  • Set-up/tear-down of rentals
  • Lead crew in absence of Supervisor
  • Check and replenish locker rooms throughout shift
  • To respond quickly to facility needs

Overview:  The Housekeeping I is responsible for ensuring a clean and organized environment by performing various cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure the entire building is clean and ready to be reopened each morning.

General Responsibilities:

  • Care and maintenance of cleaning equipment; i.e. vacuum cleaners and other cleaning machines
  • Ensure that all rentals are set up in a timely manner to allow ample time for renters
  • Cleaning and upkeep of the JCC and TBI facilities
  • Sweeping, mopping, steam cleaning and vacuuming floors
  • Cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, including toilets, sinks and showers
  • Communicate concerns/problems with facility and assistant facility directors
  • Occasional extra hours if needed
  • Securing all doors and windows
  • Restocking all paper products, soaps, and housekeeping supplies throughout the building.
  • Reporting any maintenance issues or needed repairs
  • Occasional exposure to chemicals, blood pathogens, body fluids
  • Using cleaning agents and chemicals according to safety standards
  • Interacting with clients or guests in a courteous and professional manner
  • Adhere to JCC code of conduct and JCC team manuals
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the facility
  • Complete assigned tasks within specified timeframes
  • Prioritize cleaning duties based on urgency and importance
  • Pay close attention to detail in all cleaning tasks
  • Keep cleaning supplies and equipment well-organized
  • Use cleaning supplies and equipment efficiently
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
  • Notify supervisors in advance of any planned absences

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in housekeeping preferred.
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques and use of cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heave objects up to 30 pounds.

Fitness & Wellness

Cycle Instructor (Morning & Sunday Availability)

Overview: York JCC group fitness instructors are responsible for providing personalized attention and professional group exercise instruction through monitoring all members during each fitness class. Each instructor must possess qualifications and experience necessary to teach and demonstrate proper technique and form for each group exercise class.

Job Responsibilities:

  • JCC group fitness instructors will be punctual beginning and ending all classes on time.
  • Provide group fitness instruction in a safe, enthusiastic and professional manner.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with members-high level of customer service
  • Maintain Current CPR/AED Certification
  • Maintain current indoor cycling certification
  • Maintain a safe well-rounded environment for all of the participants in the Group Exercise Studios.
  • Ability to work well with other JCC Staff members as part of the Group Exercise Team working toward a common goal to serve members.
  • Responsible for acquiring substitute instructors for your own previously scheduled classes on a daily basis.
  • Must participate in scheduled staff meetings/training and development.
  • Must understand and be able to administer emergency procedures such as evacuation and fire alarms.
  • Report unclean conditions, safety hazards and malfunctioning of equipment.
  • JCC Group Fitness staff should be knowledgeable about our agency and be able to respond appropriately with accurate information. Announcements supplied for special events should occur before every class to promote all activities, events, training programs and services in an enthusiastic and professional manner.
  • Instructors are responsible for submitting attendance and number of participants are recorded for every group exercise class.
  • Report all Group Exercise studio matters to the Wellness & Group Fitness Manager

Required Experience:

  • Current CPR/AED Certification
  • Certifications and continuing education credits related to the type of class being instructed.

Les Mills BODYPUMP Instructor
