DEVELOPMENT

Grant Writer

Overview:  The Grant Writer is a part-time position, responsible for a breadth of grant-related activities including foundation research, managing and developing grant submission timelines, drafting and submitting proposals, and writing grant reports. This position will work closely with program staff to secure information related to the development and submission of grants, and monitoring and reporting on program activities related to grant proposals funded by foundations, corporations and additional funding sources. The Grant Writer will also work closely with the Finance Department to develop grant budgets. Under the supervision of the Development Manager, the Grant Writer will increase the capacity of the York JCC to secure grant funding from private, corporate and government funders.

Minimum Educational/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, English, Non-Profit Management or related degree and/or related job experience preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in research and grant writing; nonprofit experience a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong attention to detail

General Responsibilities: 

  • Work in close partnership with the Development Director to establish and maintain relationships with foundations and corporate contacts, conducting perspective funding research, and maintaining a calendar of submissions and deadlines
  • Generate well-written letters of inquiry and proposals for grant submission
  • Assemble all supporting documentation related to grant submissions
  • Develop grant budgets in partnership with the Finance Department and program staff
  • Compile information from program staff and draft grant reports for funders
  • Conduct prospect research, identify strong funding prospects, and present for review by development staff
  • Coordinate with the Development Director to ensure proper acknowledgement to funders and follow-up throughout the grant term with program updates and news
  • Assist with other areas of Financial Resource Development Department activity including updating charity related websites and other public reports
  • Execute special projects as needed which may include research-based, database or clerical functions

Development Director

Overview: Responsible for the management and implementation of all activities relating to fundraising, donor management, marketing, and events to support the York JCC’s operating budget.

General Responsibilities:

  • Leverage the time of the CAO and take the lead on managing or supporting all donor relationships and stewardship, including grant writing, the generation of proposals and reports, tracking, database management, and prospect research and cultivation.
  • Serve as lead staff position in the research, development, implementation and review of a thorough fund raising program including annual and other fundraising campaigns, grant writing and programs to promote the charitable purpose of the York JCC.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate an annual plan for community support including emphasis on understanding the JCC’s charitable purpose through the following but not limited to:
  • Grant research and writing
  • Corporate sponsorships and support
  • Annual Campaign
  • Year-end giving
  • Planned giving
  • Endowment development and growth
  • Special events
  • Provide support to the Fund Development and Event Planning Committees and lead efforts to involve, educate and motivate Board members in the JCC’s fundraising and solicitation efforts.
  • Cultivate, manage, steward, and track relationships with all donors and prospects including individuals, corporations, foundations, and government agencies; leverage the CAO’s time in cultivating high-potential donors and prospects.
  • Work with Department Directors to develop, expand and refine case for support, supporting materials and strategy.
  • Identify and follow through on grant and public funding opportunities.Provide the internal coordination of grant spending and reporting.
  • Prepare and implement all donor correspondence, proposals, grants, reports, mailings, and acknowledgements required to support ongoing fundraising activities.
  • Generate and provide detailed reports about fundraising progress to the CAO on a regular basis.
  • Lead team to apply for and secure allocation requests from United Way.
  • Identify and work with Fund development committee to develop/implement new and effective fundraising concepts.
  • Provide the internal coordination of fundraising tracking and assessment of goal achievement.
  • Manage in a fiscally sound manner and work to meet/exceed budget for development department.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Five or more years in a senior management position, or like experience with demonstrated positive operational results.
  • Fundraising and event planning experience in establishing and managing sponsors and donors is strongly desired.
  • Demonstrated success in a business development function preferred.
  • Experience developing and cultivating corporate and foundation relationships.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate diplomatically and effectively with volunteers, donors and staff.
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills with demonstrated success in grant and proposal writing.
  • A professional and resourceful style with the ability to work independently and as a team player.
  • Proficient computer and software knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.), including development database applications.

ADMINISTRATION

Diversity Manager

Overview:  

  • The Diversity Manager will provide strategic direction and leadership for the quality, retention and growth of JCC diversity education programs.  

 

Minimum Educational/Experience:

  • Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Human Relations, Business, Marketing, Management or similar subject and five years’ experience in related field.
  • OR
  • Candidate must have 7 years of professional education and experience in the areas of marketing, program development, presenting, facilitation, and management and knowledge/experience in the following key areas:
  • Relationship building, communications, workshop development and delivery, bias-awareness/prejudice reduction training, adult and youth training, budgeting, strategic planning, program development and planning, and collaborations/partnerships.
  • Must have strong organizational skills, written/oral presentation skills, and communication skills; enthusiasm/passion for work and the ability to think “visionary” and “out of the box”.

 

General Responsibilities: 

  • Direct the JCC’s Diversity Education Department
  • Market, sell, present, and assess the quality of JCC’s diversity education menu of services.
  • Research, and develop new diversity programs as appropriate to meet the needs of schools, businesses, and organizations, or to address specific diversity issues 
  • Define opportunities for collaborations and partnerships within the community to support the JCC’s diversity efforts as applicable
  • Research, develop and implement supplemental funding opportunities for diversity education programs (e.g. Diversity Bag Lunch Sale)
  • Work with the PRTF to accomplish the task force’s strategic plan objectives
  • Write and plan for PRTF newsletter articles
  • Serves on the York Inter-Agency Task Force on Civil Tension, and York County Community Against Racism committees; attends community diversity events.
  • Maintain diversity education procedure and training manuals
  • Create and maintain annual diversity budget; operate in a fiscally sound manner.
  • Attend and participate in JCC board and staff meetings

Customer Experience Team Member

Overview:
You are a key person in providing front line customer service to our members and potential members, upholding the York JCC Mission and Core Values, and generating membership sales.

  • Serve as key staff person to conduct tours with prospective members, which includes a sales component to convert visitors into members
  • Assist with daily retention calls, renewals, and documentation of member requests
  • Providing front line security by greeting members, ensuring all scans are valid, guests are checked in properly and all entering members are directed to the correct areas
  • Answering phones, transferring calls, and taking and disseminating messages
  • Quick and accurate data entry of all program registrations and receipts
  • Accurately maintaining records and balancing of all monies received and disbursed

Network Administrator

Overview: The Network Administrator is responsible for maintaining computer networks and solving any problems that may occur with them. The Network Administrator will also plan, establish, and manage information technology (IT) projects and will serve as a liaison between the business and technical aspects of assigned projects.

  • Candidate must have a degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field required, and a minimum of three to five years’ experience in related field.

AQUATICS

Swim Lesson Instructors (WSI)

Part-Time: Varying shifts available

Position Overview:

Teach the different levels according to the AMR, provide a safe and positive learning environment for students. Give corrective feedback on skills for each level of swimming.

Requirements:

  • Water Safety Instructor certification is preferred thru the American Red Cross but not mandatory

Water Fitness Instructor

Position Overview:

Monitoring, educate patrons on fitness and safety, and maintain a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for class participants

Lifeguard I/5N

Overview:  This position, under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, has the responsibilities of maintaining order in the Natatorium by preventing accidents through the enforcement of policies, rules, and regulations governing the conduct of members and guests. Additional responsibilities include monitoring the facilities for potential hazards or unsafe conditions, providing first aid, and all other duties as necessary or required.

 

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • Must be a minimum of 15 years of age
  • American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification must be current and maintained.
  • CPR for the professional rescuer, first aid and AED certification must be current and maintained.

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain a safe environment for all participants.
  • Communicate and enforce all regulations and pool rules in a personable and professional manner.
  • Assist swimmers in and out of the pool when needed.
  • Complete daily checklists and pool readings as instructed.
  • Take chemical readings on a one-hour cycle or as noted on the pool log. Bring any unusual readings or conditions to the attention of the director.
  • Help instructors with equipment and assist them during classes.
  • Maintain eye contact with all swimmers.
  • Be on deck at all times.
  • Report all needed repairs to supervisor.
  • Must attend staff training.
  • Attend member service training.

 

Performance Expectations:

  • Greet everyone by name in a friendly manner.
  • No non-work related reading materials allowed.
  • Be willing to substitute for fellow team members and secure substitutes for working hours when you are unable to work.
  • Report all member service conditions to the Aquatic Director or Assistant Aquatic Director.
  • Abide by all Center and Aquatic policies and procedures at all times.
  • Provide excellent customer service to JCC members, guests, and staff by adhering to the JCC Employee Code of Conduct and Staff Code of Caring.

 

Minimum Physical Requirements:

  • Must be in good physical condition.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to swim a minimum of 300 yards continuously at all times.
  • Must be able to perform any rescue skill required by certifying organization.

Position Overview:

J Club | School-Age Child Care : Assistant Classroom Leader

Part-Time: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM; 29 Hours per Week; Days and Time are Flexible

Position Overview:

Provide care and guidance for children ages 6 to 12. Work collaboratively with the childcare team to provide a safe, nurturing environment in which all children feel welcomed and secure.

Yoga Instructor

The Group Fitness Instructor will lead members, in a group environment, through a pre-arranged format of exercises designed to enhance overall fitness, strength and endurance, while ensuring that the safety of the members is not compromised.

We’re seeking a Yoga Instructor to lead our fitness classes. As our new Yoga Instructor you must be:

HOSPITALITY & HOUSEKEEPING

Full-Time Housekeeping I

Position Overview:  The Housekeeping I position is responsible for completing tasks, as assigned by the evening head supervisor, housekeeping supervisor and facilities director, to ensure the entire building is clean and ready to be reopened each morning.  

Hours: Tuesday- Thursday 4:00pm- 12:30am, Friday 2:30pm- 11:00pm, Saturday 7:00am- 3:30pm

Responsibilities:

  • Care and maintenance of cleaning equipment; i.e. vacuum cleaners and other cleaning machines
  • Ensure that all rentals are set up in a timely manner to allow ample time for renters.
  • Cleaning and upkeep of the JCC.
  • Steam cleaning and hard floor care
  • Securing all doors and windows
  • Restocking all paper products, soaps, and housekeeping supplies throughout the building.
  • Refuse removal.
  • Occasional exposure to chemicals, blood pathogens, body fluids
  • Use of proper safety equipment 
  • Occasional extra hours
  • Other duties as assigned
