Passion Stories

“Gan Rimon is located in the small town of Jacobus, which is only 2 minutes from our home. For us, we couldn’t have picked a better location! We drove past this school every day for the past year just waiting for it to open so we could join! We have used several preschools in the past and this is by far, our favorite. The school is freshly remodeled, everything inside is brand new! We love the wide range of toys and manipulatives available, as well as the neutral-colored furniture. Our youngest son is in the 3’s group. After just a few days, he seemed to transition smoothly with his teachers and friends. He loves the playground and his classroom, as well as the gross motor room downstairs for inclement weather days, and Miss Kelly! He never stops talking about school once he gets home in the evening. Highly recommend our school to anyone who wants a ‘brand new’ start with amazing teachers!” – Cristina

The York JCC Education Information and Philosophy

Our Early Childhood Education Program seeks to provide an educational environment that fosters each child’s self-image, curiosity to learn about the world, and confidence in his or her developing physical, intellectual, and social skills. Our intent is not to teach a selection of specific skills in preparation for the academic world of the elementary school. Rather, it is to instill in children an image of themselves as capable learners. It is to provide each child with an environment rich in possibilities for child-initiated and directed, teacher-supported learning, through active exploration and play. At the JCC, we believe that the best preparation for the academic work of the years ahead begins in an early program that nurtures children, reinforces their natural disposition to ask questions and find answers, and strengthens children’s ability to function as both strong individuals and as caring members of a child-sized community.
