The JCC first established a Diversity Department back in the late 1990s. Since then we have worked with many school districts, businesses, and other organizations throughout the county, providing training intended to break down walls of misunderstanding and ignorance, and to reduce prejudice, discrimination, and violence. We have partnered with diversity committees and leadership training organizations to bring about positive changes in attitudes, behavior, and knowledge in students, teachers, as well as business and governmental leaders.
The JCC now aims to further our efforts to provide a brave space for participants to learn about perspectives different from their own through interactive training and authentic dialogue. Such interactive programs will build community connection by increasing empathy and understanding across apparent barriers of difference.
For more than a decade The York JCC’s Diversity Department has been a leader in helping York area organizations develop and implement transformational strategic change. We provide training and assessment tools that are tailored to meet your organization’s specific needs. We offer full-day, half-day, or 1 hour trainings on Diversity Equity Inclusion and Belonging Topics for businesses, non-profits, and schools. Let us help you drive sustainable change through optimization of your collective intelligence. Contact us for a consultation today.
This is a full day, introductory training – approximately 6 hours.
Affinity Groups are intentionally created spaces for BIPOC people to be open, honest, and authentic about their lived experiences in Predominantly White Institutions (PWIs), and to find healing from any trauma experienced in those spaces. The Affinity Groups take a trauma-informed approach to healing from racial harm, racial injustices, and racial battle fatigue.
