Reflections of Israel: Then & Now

In November 2019, a group of JCC staff and board members went on their first ever trip to Israel. In honor of Israel’s independence Day, we are happy to share their reflections.

“Israel was a once in a lifetime trip that I was so blessed to go on. It was an experience I would not have had if not for the York Jewish Community Center and one I certainly won’t forget.

From going on the trip last fall and experiencing first time adventures, to looking back and reminiscing on all of the photos, I find myself smiling. I am reminded of a beautiful culture rich in taste, full of varying religions, families honoring blessings and customs, and a people united by their Israeli homeland.

Israel was more of a spiritual journey than I anticipated it would be. It has given me a deeper connection to the Jewish values, religion, and history. The trip has also made me more proud of what we do as the York Jewish Community Center, not only for how it serves and connects our Jewish members but for the community as a whole.” – Brianna Sheehan, York JCC Vice President of Human Resources, Planning, & Innovation
