I began my career in customer service and management by selling jewelry at Kay Jewelers for 20 years. This was meaningful to me because I celebrated special occasions and built relationships with customers and coworkers.
Then, I joined the York JCC as the Front Desk Supervisor in 2012 when my son was starting first grade. Watching his enthusiasm while going to summer camp, take swimming lessons, and participating in youth fitness classes at the JCC created a family-first environment that is not offered in retail. Working as the Membership Director provides the same meaningful experience as selling jewelry by getting to know members, assisting them with opportunities to encourage their wellness journey, and listening to their comments and stories.
