Heather Miller

In 1993, Heather started volunteering in preschool and working in the summer camp program at the York JCC. She then continued her work at the J while finishing a BA degree in Elementary Education from Penn State University. In 1995, Heather joined the early childhood child care program and continued her educational journey by obtaining a Master’s degree in Teaching and Curriculum in 2007 as well as an Educational Specialist degree in Early Childhood Education from Northcentral University in 2013. She has worked with infants through school-age children and also teaches early childhood education courses at Penn State York Campus. Many of Heather’s students now work for the York JCC. She is a certified CPR and First Aid instructor for the American Heart Association and a PA PQAS instructor for educators.

Heather acknowledges the privilege she’s had to educate hundreds of children, families, and educators over her tenure, and sees the York JCC as a place to inspire young learners, a place of wellness, a place of safety, and a place to call home-away-from-home.
