The Tuesday Connection

The Tuesday Connection offers engaging educational and social experiences for adults ages 55 and up. Each week features speakers and group discussions on topics including history, culture, the arts, wellness, and the outdoors. Participants also enjoy occasional off-site outings that foster connection and lifelong learning.

Everyone is welcome, and we always enjoy meeting new faces!

Tuesday Connection Details & Pricing

  • JCC Member: $7 per session
  • JCC Insurance-Based Member: $8 per session
  • Non JCC Member: $10 per session
  • Drop-In: $12 per session

Program pricing is valid through the Friday before each program. Registrations received after the Friday before and up to the day of the program will be charged the $12 drop-in fee.

Please register in advance whenever possible. Some programs require advance registration and cannot accommodate drop-in participants due to space, materials, or planning requirements. Please refer to individual program descriptions for any registration requirements.

Non-members must present photo ID at the Front Desk before entering.

Learn how the park system developed, discover local trails and scenic destinations, and uncover some of the hidden gems that make these parks a treasured community resource. Whether you’re an outdoor enthusiast or simply looking for new places to visit, this program will inspire you to explore all that York County has to offer.

  • Discover the Power of Sound Therapy with Justin Aughenbaugh, JCC Fitness Team Member
  • Followed by Lunch of Meatless Chili and Cornbread

Experience the calming benefits of sound therapy in this engaging program. Learn how instruments like singing bowls, chimes, tuning forks, and drums use sound vibrations to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and support overall well-being. Explore the history and principles of sound therapy while enjoying a guided sound experience. No prior experience is needed. Just come ready to relax, learn, and unwind.

  • Silent Screen Classic Gothic Horror: Nosferatu (1922) with Brenda Schmid, JCC Membership Director
  • Followed by Lunch of Bury’s Burgers, Veggies & Dip, Potato Salad, and Vampire’s Kiss Mocktail

Directed by F. W. Murnau, Nosferatu (1922) is a pioneering German Expressionist silent film. It is an unauthorized, legendary adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. The film follows a sinister, rat-like vampire, Count Orlok, who travels to a German town, bringing a plague and terrorizing a real estate agent and his wife.

  • Murder and Mayhem: True Cases from York County with Christy Fawcett, Esquire
  • Followed by Lunch of Tomato Basil Tortellini with Salad and Bread

Hear from a former York County Chief Deputy Prosecutor as she shares fascinating insights from a few of the most notorious cases she prosecuted during her 30-years in the courtroom.

Tuesday, November 24

  • Venturing into the History of Opera with Mylea Thompson, Opera Vocalist
  • Followed by Lunch of Chicken Pot Pie, Salad, Bread, and a Thanksgiving Dessert Potluck

Opera vocalist and artist Mylea Thompson will provide an exciting history of opera and its evolution in the United States. Highlights will include her journey into the genre, prominent moments during her career, and personal influences such as Marian Anderson, Leontyne Price, and Renèe Fleming. Additionally, she will perform various arias from a few operas to provide a living history.

Tuesday, December 8

  • Festival of Lights: A Chanukah Musical Celebration- Gabriel Meza, Violinist from the York Symphony Orchestra
  • Followed by Lunch of Bagel and Lox, Latkes, Tuna Salad, Veggie Platter, Desserts

Join us for an unforgettable morning of live music featuring lively Klezmer selections, cherished Jewish melodies, recognizable favorites from Fiddler on the Roof, and festive Chanukah songs that will have you humming along. Whether you’re reminiscing or simply enjoying the music, this joyful program is the perfect way to celebrate the season.

Afterwards, a festive Chanukah lunch will be served featuring bagels and lox, latkes, tuna salad, a fresh vegetable platter, and a selection of desserts. Join us for a meaningful celebration filled with music, memories, and delicious holiday fare.
