J Ride: Staying Connected Transportation Program

Update July 2026: Thank you for your interest in JRide. At this time, we are not accepting new rider applications.

However, we are actively seeking volunteer drivers to help us serve more older adults in our community. If you or someone you know may be interested in volunteering, we’d love to hear from you. Please feel free to share our program with anyone who might be interested in making a difference through JRide.

Thank you for your understanding and support!

We’re here to help seniors stay independent! Maintaining our independence, and being able to remain in our own homes, are often major concerns as we grow older. The things we need to do — finding transportation to a medical appointment — are no longer so easy if we don’t drive any more. That’s where J Ride comes in. We’re a nonprofit interfaith program that can help you, or your aging parents, continue to accomplish the everyday tasks of life. For those 60 and older, our volunteers offer:

  • Transportation for medical appointments
  • Transportation to the York JCC for programs like Momentum, Tuesday Connection, and Stitches of Love
  • Social service referrals

As part of the National Volunteer Caregiving Network, our services are available to all, regardless of religious affiliation. They’re provided by caring volunteers and others who support our mission.

Finding transportation can be difficult. It may be hard to ask for help and sometimes, family and friends are facing their own challenges, or have moved away or died. But there are alternatives.

To find out more or to become a volunteer driver, please call Whitney Poole, Family Services, at 717-843-0918, extension 181 or email at wpoole@yorkjcc.org.
