Tu B’Shevat: Festival of the Trees Program

January 14 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

$8

Join us for this wonderful family-friendly Tu B’Shevat holiday program that focuses on trees and ecology on Sunday, January 14 from 3 – 5 PM.

We are delighted that Professor Anthony Fredericks, professor at York College of Pennsylvania and author of dozens of children’s and adult books on the natural world, will read his book Tall, Tall Tree: A Nature Book for Kids About Forest Habitats.

There will also be hands-on activities related to trees and learning how olive oil is made. Children will leave with their own jars of scented olive oil! Space is limited – save your spot here! bit.ly/TuBShevatYorkJCC24

ABOUT TU B’SHEVAT:
January 24 – 25 celebrates the beginning of spring in Israel and provides a focus on the importance of trees and ecology in Jewish tradition. At this time of year, it is customary to plant trees or donate money for the planting of trees in Israel.

Tu B’Shevat is celebrated as the Feast of Fruits. Modeled on the Passover Seder, participants would read selections from the Hebrew Bible and Rabbinic literature and eat fruits and nuts traditionally associated with the land of Israel.
