Join us for a free screening of the Oscar and BAFTA winning film The Zone of Interest on May 1 at 6:30 PM. The Zone of Interest, Jonathan Glazer's Oscar-nominated historical drama, is technically a film about the Holocaust. The film centers on the real-life Auschwitz commandant Rudolf Höss and his family, who live bucolic and seemingly mundane lives next door to the infamous concentration camp. Yom HaShoah, or Holocaust Remembrance Day, is commemorated across the Jewish world with services, ceremonies, educational programs, testimonials from survivors and with the lighting of yahrzeit (memorial) candles. The date for Yom HaShoah, the 27th of Nisan, was chosen based on the start of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising because it represented resistance, strength, and heroism.
