Yom HaShoah, or Holocaust Remembrance Day, is commemorated across the Jewish world with services, ceremonies, educational programs, testimonials from survivors and with the lighting of yahrzeit (memorial) candles. The date for Yom HaShoah, the 27th of Nisan, was chosen based on the start of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising because it represented resistance, strength, and heroism.

Join the York JCC to commemorate Yom HaShoah, the Holocaust Remembrance Day, on Sunday, May 5. We will commemorate those lost during the Holocaust with activities throughout the day, followed by a presentation in the evening.
